Mt
Kaldbakur (998 m) is the highest mountain of the Westfjords in
Iceland. It is located between the bays Arnarfjordur and
Dyrafjordur at the end of Valley Haukadalur. It is flat on top
and dotted with sharp rock. The best climbing access is from
valley Fossdalur and on a fine day the effort is rewarded by an
excellet panoramic view over the Icelandic Alps and along the west
coast of the country. In the cairn on top is a guestbook for the
mountain climbers.
